Home Elevators: Tips

This guide will help you determine the approximate dimensions for your residential elevator shaftway.

  1. Determine the space allocated for the elevator.
  2. Identify the code requirements.
  3. Choose an elevator.
    American Crescent/Matot offers two models of residential elevators:
    • The Elite® winding drum cable drive elevator offers the highest-quality winding drum elevator available. When you select the Elite, you receive increased mobility and added convenience, all in a smooth quality ride.
    • The Regal® roped hydraulic drive elevator offers a high quality residential lift system. It utilizes the same hydraulic drive technology built into commercial low-rise elevator systems.
  4. Determine the shaftway size requirements and construction.
    Use the typical shaft layout drawings to determine the shaftway size and construction requirements. NOTE: Do not start construction before receiving your Final layout drawing from an American Crescent/Matot sales representative.

All residential elevators sold by American Crescent/Matot are designed and manufactured in accordance with our interpretation of the standards set forth by ASME ANSI A17.1 Part 5. Some state and local standards may vary, so check with local authorities to assure compliance.

All units must be installed in accordance with all applicable building, electrical and fire codes in force at the location of the installation.
